Standard Horizon's Matrix AIS GX2100, a fixed-mount VHF radio that also includes a small display with Automatic Identification System (AIS) ship tracking, picked up the top honors as overall winner of the 2010 National Marine Electronics Association Technology Award for 2010.

NMEA selects its award winners based on innovation, benefit to boaters, practicality and value. Ten entries, including several electronic navigation products and software plus two different types of antennas, competed for the NMEA awards in 2010, the organization said.

The Matrix AIS GX2100 also won the 2010 National Marine Manufacturers Association Innovation Award for its unique combination of a VHF and AIS in one unit.
