Surveillance Systems and Employee Productivity
While some experts feel that there is little evidence that video surveillance has a great impact on crime, “… its symbolic impact as a deterrent is believed by police forces to be significant,” according to John S. Dempsey, in his book, “Introduction to Private Security.” Not only can a CCTV surveillance system be a deterrent to criminal activity, but they may also encourage employees to operate within the rules and regulations of the organization as well. A security guard is less likely to abandon his post, in pursuit of his own interests, if the surveillance camera may expose him.
